PEOPLES LEAGUE DEMANDS WITHDRAWAL OF INDIAN FORCES FROM KASHMIR

Executive Member and Acting Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Mukhtar Ahmad Waza in a statement has strongly condemns the use of excessive force especially on women by Indian armed forces on Kashmiris in Shopian and other parts of Kashmir on Monday, demanded repealing of draconian laws and complete withdrawal of forces from the Kashmir. Mukhtar Waza denounces the arrest of several pro-freedom leaders including elderly resistance leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Mustaq-Ul-Islam, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Zamrooda Habib and Yasmeen Raja and added that such coercive measures cannot stop resistance movement of Kashmiris. Mukhtar Waza maintained that ongoing freedom struggle will continue – arresting resistance leaders will not deter Kashmiris in achieving the cherished goal of freedom.

He called upon the International Human Rights bodies dealing with women related abuses particularly the Amnesty International, Asia Watch, Human Rights Watch and the United Nations Human Rights Council to probe into the incidents of human rights violations by Indian troops in Kashmir .

Meanwhile Peoples League expresses profound grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in fatal accidents of Doda, and extends heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families.
