JK govt brings in policies to boost cross-LoC trade

Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said it has put in place a sound mechanism to boost cross-LoC trade and make it a success.

All necessary infrastructures for hassle-free trade has been provided for flourishing business across the LoC, Chief Secretary S S Kapur said chairing a high level meeting in Srinagar.

He said the government is vigorously encouraging trade in locally-manufactured products to benefit state manufacturers.

The Chief Secretary said J&K Bank would take up the matter with the bankers of the other side regarding financial arrangements for carrying out cross-LoC trade.

Kapur asked the state officials to speedy disposal of pending cases of travel documents to make travel across LoC easier.

He also asked for framing project report for construction of permanent infrastructure at Salamabad in Baramulla district and Chakan-da Bagh in Poonch district so that financial assistance could be sought from the Centre.

The Chief Secretary said that additional Rs 1.50 lakh would be provided for land acquisition at Salamabad and improvement of infrastructural facility at LoC trade centres.
